The drawing in the work of eugene de bie (1914-1983)
Enjoying an influence that is often inferior to that of painting, drawing nonetheless remains the ferment of all plastic creation, both through its inexorable spontaneity and through the plurality of its techniques.
It is this aspect of Eugène De Bie's work that invites us to discover such an exhibition where the sensuality of women, suggested by a few curves drawn in India ink, rub shoulders with the hazy universes of watercolor or those, warmer, pastel.
Faces undone by shadow and time, almost human creatures stretching out an oversized hand, mysterious compositions in which the sketch contrasts with the detail. DP
