TIBOR DENGYEL (Hungary - 1913-2000)
OVERVIEW OF LIFE AND WORK
We will discuss some stages in the life of the artist who was born on November 8, 1913 in Kolozsvàr (Hungary). At that time, this city was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Became Romanian after 1920, following the Trianon agreements, the city changed its name and is now called Cluj. The artist died in Brussels on May 31, 2000
CHILDHOOD AND RETURN TO HUNGARY
Coming from a family that had many painters (amateurs), Tibor Dengyel showed an early interest in the world of art. He participated in his first exhibition at the age of 14 with a self-portrait and entered the Academy of Fine Arts of Kolozsvar three years later.From the age of 14, at the same time as studying middle school, he studied painting with A. Ciupe and A. Popp, two well-known Romanian painters.
Appointed to serve in the Romanian army in 1935, he quickly fled to Budapest where he completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts before studying art history at the University of Rome. city.
He was then Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. -
