Until October 7, 2007, the K Gallery hosts an exhibition of Tuula Aalto's works. A set of recent paintings that show the evolution of this Finnish artist to a touch more fluid without denying its fidelity to the theme of places, real or imaginary, which is its main source of inspiration. Color is here a pretext for infinite variations to the extent that the original subject dilutes and is only a distant memory. In her own way, Tuula Aalto takes up the Impressionist approach and strives to make a personal, intuitive vision of things that is more about sharing an emotion than identifying a subject with precision. Most of the works presented here are invitations to travel, a pictorial and chromatic journey that gives pride of place to daydreaming and takes the viewer on a stroll that is more spiritual than geographical.
Tuula Aalto's painting flirts openly with abstraction. The places she evokes are assimilated to creative impulses expressed on the canvas by harmonies of colors ranging from warm yellow to deep blue. Soft tones, controlled composition give his paintings a serene radiance and an almost infinite depth. One gets lost with pleasure, reconnecting with an impression of already lived: glow of a twilight, twinkling of a landscape under the rays of midday, opacity of a deep water ...
