JEAN LUYENS (BELGIUM)
"Painter of the Sea"
Jean Luyens, born in Ostend in 1932 to a family of sailors, went to school in England during the 1939-45 war.
Once back in Belgium, he studied art at the St. Luc Academy in Ghent.
After being art director in different advertising agencies, he chose to become a free lance illustrator, visualising layouts and story-boards.
In his purely artistic activity Luyens concentrated on watercolours which have been exhibited in Brussels, Ostend, Antwerp but also abroad, in England and France.
He has been a member of ‘The Belgian Marine Artists’ (and artists group) since 1997.
